Is sterling silver water proof?

I have a sterling silver ring and I'm a part time dishwasher at a restaurant. Will this hurt my ring?

No, it won't hurt your ring. If it starts to tarnish, buy silver polish or use toothpaste to bring it's luster back.

Unless you are using nasty chlorinated detergents (like getting stuff for dishwasher use on your hands) you should be ok. Stuff like Dawn won't harm it. Silver WILL tarnish over time tho even if you leave it in air but you can remove that with silver polish.
