Default how to take better care of my hair?

As stupid as it may sound, I have no idea how to take care of my hair. Like actually TAKING CARE of it :PMy hair is brown, shoulder length and thin. From the top [scalp] for some reason I have these little black hairs growing..thick ones and frizzy. My hair is naturally brown [with different shades of brown] but I don't know why black. They make my hair look frizzy. The tips are damaged and have split ends. I cut them off but they keep reappearing every day. [well i may know why but I want my hair to grow out quickly and cutting it will slow down the progress of doing so..it's gonna end up on jaw length]I guess I'd say I brush my hair hard [hair gets easily tangled] and somewhere I read [forgot where] on how to wash your hair properly. I guess I'd say I was my hair like I'm washing a dog >__> all over the place. And when I dry it, I try not rubbing it, but I do anyways.I also read somewhere that you don't brush your hair while it's wet. I realized that yesterday..and how come you're not suppose to? Because if I don't brush it, my hair is going to be all frizzy and really hard to brush when it dries [really tangled]so yeah..any idea?? Like how are you suppose to wash your hair? And brush it? [soft i'm guessing :P]and how can i find the right shampoo for me? There are millions of shampoo out there and there's no way I can figure it out...no hair loss, etc. Plus I don't have enough money for the expensive ones too...so yeah..help would be much appreciated!Btw if it helps I use Kirkland shampoo [not conditioner]Oh and is it alright if I use a mixutre of shampoo? Like kirkland for the scalp and TRESemme conditioner for the tips...["unrelated" shampoos]Oh and what does it mean when you don't wash your hair? [like say for example someone takes showers daily...but they don' clean their hair...do they put a shower cap or let it get wet?]thank you!!thanks guys! it really helped. But one more thing though...I have these short THICK black hair coming out...it's not the one that changes colors [from black to brown to blonde] it's thick and black by its own. Right now I plucked one out and felt it...it felt very ma;treated looking. Twists everywhere! How do I get rid of that? >_> it's black, THICK [my hair is thiin] and it's shiny too...and maltreated...any idea why?forgot to mention, they grow at the very uh..."line" in above the head [the separated hair place] like the very top

Its ok to mix shampoos. But you might want to try using the conditioner not only for your ends but for your whole hair. Leave in the conditioner and rinse it in the morning. You can detangle your hair with a comb so it is untangled but a brush can do damage do your hair. Try not to rub your hair as much or it will get frizzy try patting your hair dry. Most people use a shower cap or towel wrap to keep their hair wet if they dont want to wash it. I hope this helped! Oh i forgot try not to use a straightener (if you do) near the ends or they will get even more damage! Good luck!

Ok well to avoid getting split ends on your hair, hair experts say that when you wash your hair the first thing that we would liek to do is to brush our hair... DONT! Experts say that its bad to brush your hair while its wet, dont know why, thats just what they say. If you need to comb your hair, you can do so with your fingers or a wide tooth comb. If your hair is really dry (like how mine use to be) you could do at home treatments with everyday products. Get a small bowl and mush up an avocado, then add a couple of tablespoons of mayo (i know this sounds gross, but it really is good for your hair) and then put the mixture into your hair and wrap it around foil and leave on for about 15 min. After, wash out your hair in the shower about 2 or 3 times with just shampoo. It makes your hair so incredibly soft and shiny. I did this about 3 times and my hair gained back its moisture! Now i dont have to use this mixture anymore i just use hydrating shampoo and conditioner and my hair has never been healthier! Hope this helped.

Sounds like you have a bad hair case. :P Maybe changing your habits will help.I have the same issue with the hair colour. I have black hair which is started to growing in a really light brown in the front. I'm not really sure what that means but I kinda like the change of colour.First of all, cut your hair one more time to get rid of the split ends and damage. I know it might be hard to keep giving up your hair but it's good to start off with a fresh head of hair without any damage. It'll grow healthy when you take care of it.. but I guess that's where you need help.Don't brush your hair too hard. Try to brush gently even with tangles. Using your fingers is better than using a comb. Never use those combs with plastic balls at the ends. They end up ripping your hair. Start from the bottom and go up. Don't brush it when it's wet because when it's wet, it stretches and breaks. Treat it like a beautiful old lace that you want to treasure for a long time. If it's hard to brush when it dries, take a wide tooth comb and just get tangles out. Do not brush any more than that. Always brush your hair with a brush as little as possible. The rumor about brushing 100 times a day is false. It only damages it more.I used to wash my hair "like a dog" too. It just gets all over the place though. That's one thing that really tangles up your hair. Comb your hair before you shower and be very careful with your hair while you're washing. Don't rub it like crazy and try to keep it nice even when you use shampoo. When you dry it, let it air dry. Try to stay away from any heat appliances like blow dryers, straighteners and curlers. Maybe put a towel over your shoulders and let it dry like that. For shampoo.. I guess you should try different shampoos and see which are best for your hair type. That's what I do. It's the only way for me to find out what works well and what doesn't. Also try a conditioner. It'll help a lot if you have dry and tangled hair.I think it's okay to use different shampoos and conditioners. I usually do that for a change. Your hair will get used to the ingredients in a certain product after a while so it's good to switch and use something different but you might get better results if you use the same product. I'm not quite sure which will work best. Maybe you can try both ways?I think when someone says that they don't wash their hair, they do put a shower cap on so that it won't get wet.I hope this helps. Good luck! Hope everything turns out well.

Before I get started, just to let you know, I have waist-length, thick hair, so I'm used to taking care of it. The short hairs that are sticking up are probably broken hairs, or the new growth of hairs that have fallen out. Don't worry; you aren't going bald. Hair breaks and falls out all the time, but if you are careful with your hair, then the breakage is minimized and won't happen as much. They're probably black because they haven't been hit with the sun as much as the rest of your hair. Don't worry about them. A little hair product can make them much less noticeable. If you have a lot of split ends, the only thing that you can do is go to a hairdresser and tell her that you want to grow your hair long, and that you need to get rid of the split ends. You may end up with pretty short hair initially, but better to have short, healthy, good-looking hair than long, stringy, frizzy, scraggly hair. That being said...First, how to brush your hair. As you said, you really shouldn't brush your hair when it's wet. This is because wet hair is weaker than dry hair. If you absolutely have to brush out your hair before it's dry, then wait until it's air-dried a little bit, and make sure that you use a wide-toothed comb. Before you shower, brush your hair so that there aren't any tangles. Something that will help is some kind of a hair smoother. I put a little bit in just before I brush it. (I use Smooth N' Shine Polishing Spray-On Polisher.) You don't need much. Half a spritz in the palm of your hand will do the trick. Rub it between your hands and then over and under your hair. When brushing your hair, always work from the tips to the roots; this will minimize split ends. Be patient. And never, ever yank the tangles. When you get to a knot, just brush out from the bottom of the knot to the top. Once all the tangles are out, you can get in the shower and wash it. To best wash your hair (I wash mine almost every day, though this isn't necessarily recommended), take a little bit of shampoo. You only have hair to your shoulders, so you need like, a dime-sized drop. Rub it between your palms and smooth it over your head. Don't shampoo the ends of your hair. Just the scalp and hair directly on your head. Don't scrub. Just take your fingers and move them over your scalp as if you were trying to rake your fingers through your hair. This will push the shampoo to the scalp without disturbing your hair too much. Don't bother with two different shampoos. TRESemme is a good brand; my second favorite, actually, next to Garnier Fructis. It smells nice and does a good job. You don't need to shampoo the ends anyway. Just use a shampoo for fine or oily hair. When you rinse the shampoo out of your hair, the suds will slide down to the ends anyway, and that will get them quite clean, without roughing them up by scrubbing them or using too much shampoo. The ends of your hair need some of your hair oils to stay protected and healthy. Make sure that when you're rinsing, you smooth the shampoo out of your hair. Shampooing this way has the added benefit of helping to avoid as many tangles. You MUST condition your hair. Not doing so will result in the frizziness you're talking about, and it will contribute to tangles. Conditioner is not an option; it's a necessity for good hair. To use the conditioner, just pour about a quarter-sized amount in the palm of your hand, and smooth it over the ends of your hair, and the very last bit of it that might be left on your palms over your head. You don't need a lot of conditioner for your scalp, and you only need it if the hair there tends to tangle. Leave the conditioner on your hair for the rest of your shower. Wash your body, shave your legs, do whatever else you have to do. The very last thing you should do before getting out of the shower is rinse out the conditioner. Rinse it out with the coldest water you can tolerate. The cold water will close the cuticles on your hair to minimize frizz. Smooth your hands over your hair to GENTLY press some of the excess water out. Then just wrap your hair in a towel for a while. Do NOT rub it. This is one of the reason your hair tangles. Leave the towel on your hair for a while. This will absorb a lot of the water. When you finally take the towel off, there should be some spots that look like they've made some progress in drying themselves. Now it's okay to comb out your hair. Use a little detangler. I use the ION swimmer's detangler, which you can get at any Sally's Beauty Supply. You don't need much. Just a little. Then comb your hair just like you did before you went into the shower. Ends to roots. ALWAYS ends to roots. Gentle, gentle, gentle. The spritz will help you get your hair in order. Then you can blow-dry or air-dry as you see fit. Once your hair is dry, use a little more of the polisher to keep it tangle-free. The benefit is that it also makes your hair shiny. Another good move is to use one of the many, many repair serums on the ends of your hair to keep them from splitting. Keep in mind, split ends are pretty much inevitable, but you can keep the damage to a minimum. You don't have to wash your hair every day. When I don't wash my hair, I just put it up in a bun on top of my head and make sure that the water doesn't hit it. Or you can use a shower cap. I don't recommend wetting it if you aren't washing it since wet hair = weak hair, but you can if you want to, or if you need to re-style. One final note, use the conditioner that's meant to go with your shampoo. They're formulated to work together and you'll get the best benefit from them that way.
