My answer is go natural. I recently switched over and my hair hasn't been healthier. My hair is dry, curly, wavy that is prone crispy ends. which was always made worse from products with alcohol ingredients and heat tools used to smooth and tame. You may think I'm crazy or gross but here is the natural hair plan.-- STOP washing your hair.- It may be hard to break the habit but once you do you will wonder why you wasted so much time.-I usually go 7-10 days between washings! I recently let time slip and around day 10 had to go to a reception, used some hot roller and hairspray, which dried things out and ended up going 2 weeks without a wash! I asked my very HONEST family---thought it only looked couple days past washing.---.To clean your hair properly use must go old school. Ask your Grandma how she used to do it. I bet she will say Baking Soda and Apple Cider Vinegar-I take two plastic cups in the shower. One with couple-few tablespoons of each ingredient.-Wet hair and fill baking soda cup with water apply to scalp and hair. Massage the scalp well. I don't try to comb though at this point.Squeaky clean curly hair tangles. Rinse the soda mix out-no comb.-Fill ACV cup with water apply to scalp and hair. Massage in and rinse. I will finger comb as I'm rinsing at this point. Your hair will be the softest you ever felt. You actual hair feels smooth not the conditioner residue like with typical products.--At this point I wet set my hair with large plastic rollers. It smooths out my hair and gives me those big, lush, Hollywood wave/curls. Carmen Electra style. Doing this is a pain in the butt, but It looks great and lasts. Since I'm only doing one a week it's no biggie. Use the appropriate size for you length.---For my setting spray I mix very small amount of leave-in previous purchase trying to use up. and 1/2 of a LOREAL Ineral Hair Fixer treatment and fill my 9 oz spay bottle with water.****If hair is damaged get the junk ends cut and do weekly hair fixer treatments (available at Sally's--6 treatments for like $8)Never done a wet set roller set- no sweat I'm fairly new my self. There are plenty of videos on the web. I use no addition products listed above and use my boar brush. I air dry but can use blow dryer w/ diffuser or hood dryer. You are done for the week, or two, or month! Just brush, which is very important. Get a boar or boar/nylon brush. Brushing moves the natural scalp oils down the shaft to the ends. Helping your scalp stay in order as well as providing your hair with natural moisture and styling product. I get static fluff when brushing, but I finger comb and all is smooth. DON"T forget to brush at bedtime! Oh and a silk pillow case is key as cotton sucks out you natural oils.Give it time. It may take a couple weeks for your scalp to reach it's natural PH and return to it's natural beautiful state.
