how do you tell if your perfume smells good on you?

someone once told me if you lick the perfume and it burns your tongue it does not smell good on you, another person told me if you can smell the perfume you are wearing it does not smell good on you, are these true, any real ways to tell if a certain kind of perfume smells good on you?

its your nose, lol if you think it don't smell good don't use it, were all different and like different smells, licking it will only make your mouth taste like perfume!!

Spray it on you, and if you like it then fine. Fragrances smell different on everyone as everyone has different types of skin. So try a few out and see what you like.
