Default How does cologne or perfume make a person more attractive?

Perhaps I'm just really simple but the one smell that I love is "unsmellable". The name of the smell is "No smell at all #1".But I've always been curious. What is it about these perfumes and colognes that make men and women go crazy over each other? Do they want to give the idea that their sweat smells like cotton candy or an air freshener or something? I can't stand the smells myself...B.O. sucks, but IMO (in my opinion) scented oils and sprays suck even more. But you give me your answers because maybe I can learn something or two that I haven't seen. Thanks

personally, I hate perfume. I think it smells like a mixture of piss and alcohol with rotted flowers. not joking.

well... i dont think that everyone can pull off every scent since the perfume will smell different on everyone. i think people just want a signature smell that they can be remembered by. for me, its "love at first glow" by j.lo. its a really soft vanilla-y fragrance but i absolutely luv it. i get so many compliments on it. but i have a friend who couldnt pull it off to save the life of her, its just flat out smells funny when she wears it. she does like to wear "curve crush" though, which for me is too strong.i dont mind pefume but only to a certain extent... like i hate it when you can smell someone enter the building... from two freakin floors away! thats just wrong. its like they went bathing in the stuff or something geez i just wana hose those ppl down. if you can smell the person from a normal standing distance away then its too strong! its suppose to be something intimate that you can only get a whiff of if you are really close and i have to admit that i do luv my guy to smell nice when we go out.... something about the cologne, just drives me crazy O_o

Cologne is a cheaper, watered-down version of the same brand of perfume. Apart from that, no difference. Many people are allergic, and I've worked in places where perfume was outlawed for this very reason. So "no", wearing scent doesn't necessarily make a person more attractive. It can actually make them quite repellant instead.
