any vehicle wrap designers? how do you handle file size for 53ft trailers?

I recently had to develop a wrap for a 53ft trailer. It was simple one images, one logo, 3 lines of text. The file was 1.3g at 1/10th scale and 720dpi, my question is how do you go about designing more intricate stuff and keep file size down. This was my first 53ft trailer.

Have you checked with the vendor that will be printing the wrap? I always contact the final vendor before I start to lay anything out. Ask them what file type they prefer and how large it has to be. I don't know about vehicle wraps, but for billboards the vendors have technology to be able to size up without the loss of quality. Maybe you can set it up at less than 1/10 final size... just ask them.Also, many vendors now take PDF files, so that usually decreases file size. Besides that, you just have to deal with very large files... make sure you have a computer with enough RAM!
