When did pregnancy become a fashion?

I'm not saying EVERYONE who's pregnant is like this, but when did this become the "cool" thing to do?I am 23 weeks pregnant, I'm not saying this out of jealousy or anything, I just don't think it's cool to BE pregnant. It's exciting, and frightening at the same time, but I wouldn't say it would make me cool because I'm pregnant. The town that I just recently moved too, there is about 10 percent of teens that are pregnant and use it to gain their popularity, if that makes any sense..

I don't believe it is a fashion. I think SEX has become a fashion and unfortuately pregnancy results.

I didn't know that being pregnant = trying to be cool; I guess it just seems like that to some people who have never been pregnant before because pregnant women are happy and excited to be pregnant, and a person who has never been pregnant before might equate that with the pregnant woman thinking she's better than every one else.

No clue. I don't see how it can be fashionable for teens.(well I should not talk because I'm seventeen and pregnant too.)

It's been like that as long as my grandmother can remember. I asked her about it when I was pregnant with my first because it really annoyed me how other people were acting. She said that women are naturally competitive with eachother. If one woman has it (it being *anything* from a certain kind of purse to marriage and/or children) the majority of the rest of them want it just *because* the first lady has it and for no other reason.The older I get the more I realize this is true. When I was having my first baby everyone else was all of a sudden TTC (which was STUPID because I was 18 when I had my son!!). When I announced we were getting married I know 3 other women who weren't even engaged yet who rushed out and got married before us just so they could say they did it first. Now that we are having our second everyone I know "thinks she's pregnant"....well, you get the picture. It's annoying, but from what my grandma says it doesn't look like it will change anytime soon.

I'm 17, 27 weeks pregnant.I know people who actually think lower of me because I am,it didn't help my "popularity", if anything it made me more of an outcast.I have my few friends that have stuck with me through everything, though am prepared to lose them as well, when they realize that just because the baby's here, doesn't mean I can go out all the time, and that I'm going to "push" the baby on my mother to hang out with them.A lot of my friends also spoil my daughter already, they think it's "cute", and they want one, so I can see where you're coming from.

It always seems to happen in streaks, not really sure why though.At first I got a chuckle when I read your question because my mind didn't process it quite the way it was written (baby ate my brain lol). I initially saw pregnant and fasion in the same sentence and got confused, cause there is NOTHING fashionable abou this pregnancy, between the breakouts, crazy hair that won't do anything, the red teary eyes from gagging over EVERYTHING and the belly that is developing before it should, I couldn't feel further from fashionable. So anyone reading this look - it's NOT cool to be pregnant.I'm not knocking being pregnant, I do feel blessed, we tried for so long but this is DEFINATELY one of those careful what you wish situations.
